Paintings by Michele Silva Carozzo

Exhibit:  October 1 through November 8, 2014
Reception: Saturday October 4, 2014 from 2 to 4 pm

The Whistler House Museum of Art is pleased to announce an exhibition of Michele Silva Carrozo's paintings inspired by Cape Cod. Carrozo is a painter of portraits, seascapes, landscapes, and still lifes.

"I have worked in all kinds of compositions because I'm enraptured by it all," Carrozo has said. At the age of eight, she began painting in watercolor. Carrozo has studied at the Arts Students League in New York and at the Roslyn School of Painting under Master Painter Charles Pasquelina. Michele has maintained her atelier for 15 years from New York to Lisbon, Portugal and now in East Harwich, Massachusetts.  Her affiliations includes the Whistler House Museum of Art, Oil Painter's Society of America, The Sane Society, The Gulbenkian Museum in Lisbon, Portugal, World Artist's Directory, and the Washington D.C. Directory of Women Painters. Carrozo's work has been exhibited in Lisbon at such institutions as Galeria Abraco, Ponte do Sor, Convento dos Cardaes, and the American Embassy, to name a few. She has also had her work included in exhibitions at the Cultural Center in Yarmouth, the Barnstable Airport, and Bill Lutz Gallery in Massachusetts.

This exhibition is in collaboration with UMass Lowell's Saab-Pedroso Center for Portuguese Culture & Research.

Visitors are welcome to view Carrozo's paintings at the Whistler House Museum of Art during open hours from October 1 through November 8, and are invited to the reception being held Saturday, October 4 from 2 - 4 p.m. Artworks included in the exhibition are for sale.
