The Whistler House Museum of Art (WHMA) is pleased to announce its upcoming Annual Juried Members Exhibition: All Creatures Great and Small. The show will run from September 23, 2023 to January 13, 2024. An opening reception will be held on Saturday, September 23, from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Parker Gallery.
The Lowell Art Association, Inc. (LAA) is the oldest incorporated art association in the country. In partnership with the Lowell Humane Society, this year's Annual Juried Members Exhibition explores works of art from LAA artist members inspired by the All Creatures Great and Small series of books by veterinary surgeon James Alfred Wight, under the pen name James Herriot.
Celebrating the breadth of life in our world, artists created paintings, drawings, sculpture, fiber art, prints, and photography to share with the world all the amazing creatures that influence and inspire us.

The juror is Patrick McCay, an Irish-born, Scottish/American painter and a Professor of Fine Arts at the Institute of Art and Design at New England College. His works of art combine abstract and figurative elements, reflecting an influence of Scottish and German expressionists, American abstract expressionists, and the Bay Area Painters. He holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Fine Arts from the Glasgow School of Art as well as a Master’s in Fine Arts from the University of Notre Dame. McCay has exhibited around the world, including in London, Glasgow, Lisbon, New York City, Chicago, Boston, and Lowell. He has held academic and leadership positions at the International School of London, School of Visual Arts in New York, Savannah College of Art and Design, and was the Dean and Chair of Fine Arts at the New Hampshire Institute of Art.
Mr. McCay will jury nearly 200 submissions from artist members of the Lowell Art Association, Inc. McCay will judge entries on such criteria as technique, composition, perspective, color, and originality.
"Each year the Lowell Art Association Inc. membership grows and the body of work becomes more and more impressive," says President and Executive Director Sara Bogosian. "This is a truly remarkable and diverse exhibition, and everyone should come to experience the works of our talented artists."
