Meet the Whistler House Museum of Art's February Artist of the Month:
Adrien Bisson

Adrien Bisson is a Lowell-based photographer with over a decade of experience in commercial and editorial work. Having studied music at Berklee, and spending over two decades as a software developer, he became interested in photography as a teenager and is largely self-taught. Until recently, he operated a successful commercial and editorial photography business, with clients in the tech and financial sectors, as well as the University of Massachusetts at Lowell, and several local interest magazines such as the Merrimack Valley Magazine and North Shore Magazine. His personal work explores portraiture, dance, urban landscape, and observations on everyday life.
He and his wife Amy moved to Downtown Lowell in 2014 after living in Westford, MA for 20 years. He maintained a studio at Western Avenue Studios, in Lowell, for almost 13 years, and now is located at the Gates Block in Downtown Lowell.
Adrien has exhibited in solo and two-person shows at the Whistler Museum and the Loading Dock Gallery (Lowell, MA), as well as the Parish Center for the Arts (Westford, MA). He has exhibited work in juried group shows at those venues, as well as the Griffin Museum of Photography (Winchester, MA), the Brush Gallery and the ALL Gallery (Lowell), the Plymouth Center for the Arts (Plymouth, MA), and the Black Box Gallery (Portland, OR). His work has also appeared in Shots Magazine and several times on the Curated Fridge (Somerville, MA).
His current work examines his hometown of Exeter, NH, and his current one, Lowell, MA. He is interested in the ways in which they have both influenced his life, interests, and work, and how each place continues to change; Exeter, from a small country town that has become more upscale and suburban, and Lowell, from an industrial revolution manufacturing center to a gateway city with a vibrant art community.
